DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
TD Reinsurance (Barbados) Inc. (TDRB) is a reinsurance company domiciled in Barbados. The Company's ultimate parent is The Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD Bank), one of Canadas largest financial institutions. The TDRB subsidiary has been in operation for more than 30 years and is regulated locally by The Financial Services Commission.
TDRB assumes Life & Health Insurance risks from Canadian primary insurers and General Insurance risks from an affiliate insurance company within the TD Bank Group (TDBG). TDRB also assumes Life & Health Insurance and Annuities risks from large European reinsurers and likewise retrocedes Canadian Life & Health risks to these reinsurers.
The Actuarial Analyst will report directly to the Senior Manager Actuary and support the actuarial functions of TDRB's operations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Actuarial Analyst will report directly to the Senior Manager Actuary, TD Reinsurance (Barbados) Inc.
Key Accountabilities:
Financial Reporting and Validation
Assume an integral role in the overall production of monthly Financial Statements for the Company.
Prepare monthly reporting inputs into the SAS system.
Complete independent validation of SAS output, income statements, and balance sheets, with results consistently aligning to expected outcomes and issues clearly documented and resolved where required.
Identify and implement processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Stress Testing and Capital Management
Perform activities relating to the stress testing and capital management of TDRB's businesses, to ensure the Company's resilience under various macroeconomic scenarios.
Actuarial Analysis and Reinsurance Pricing
Support actuarial and technical aspects of TDRB's annual reinsurance renewal process, such as pricing reviews, due diligence assessments, and experience analyses.
Support analysis of reinsurance contracts underwritten to ensure contracts are profitable and comply with TDRB's Underwriting Policy.
Assist with the implementation of new initiatives compliant with TDI/TDRB strategy.
Risk Management and Governance & Control
Assisting in identifying and evaluating major risk categories including operational, insurance, financial, strategic risks, etc. to ensure all risks align to the Bank's risk appetite.
Supporting the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and policies.
Participate in the assessment of key risks, processes, and controls within the business unit and support the management of self-assessments.
Develop and maintain models and documentation in compliance with the model governance framework.
JOB REQUIREMENTSExperience of 1-3 years working experience in Insurance/Reinsurance industry
Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Sciences or other related field.
3+ Actuarial Exams, candidate for ACIA/ASA
Experience with IFRS17 accounting will be considered an asset but not required
Knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Access Database, PowerPoint, Moody's AXIS and collaborative software such as WebEx and MS Teams

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
While the majority of the TDRB Team is based in Barbados, the Actuarial Analyst position is expected to be filled in Toronto, Ontario, Canada . Therefore, team collaboration will be via remote connection. The successful applicant will be required to work from a physical TD location at least 3 days per week in accordance with TD's workplace model.
