  • We are looking to hire someone to work in our Columbus, Ohio office on a hybrid schedule (3 days/week)

  • Hiring team is looking for a confident insurance professional with proven communication and interpersonal skills to lead this team.

Job Summary

The Manager Corporate Insurance is responsible for managing the NiSource Corporate Insurance Program in a fast-paced corporate risk management environment.

In this position the Manager will be expected to help develop the annual insurance retention and renewal strategy while liaising with all NiSource subsidiaries, corporate departments and insurance markets.

This position will report directly to the Director, Corporate Insurance and will be expected to work with the Director to identify and evaluate the risks and exposure present within NiSource while recommending strategies to transfer this risk and its cost through insurance programs.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with Director, Corporate Insurance to establish corporate insurance program including the development of annual renewal and retention strategies.

  • Manages the assessment and determination of coverage levels, negotiates policy terms and premiums and manages relationships with carriers and brokers.

  • Assists in management of operational risk assessment projects.

  • Consults with internal customers regarding insurance/risk management, loss financing solutions, and develops related policies and procedures.

  • Manages process of quantifying loss while negotiating insurance recoveries on behalf of NiSource.

  • Oversees the administration and delivery of all documentation related to insurance policies; including certificates of insurance database administration.

  • Gathers underwriting data and completes renewal applications.

  • Completes annual property valuation and related analysis.

  • Reviews corporate insurance policies for compliance with renewal specifications.

  • Responsible for casualty insurance policy maintenance including endorsements, amendments and receipt of original policy documentation.

  • Assists Director in preparation of the Corporate Insurance Budget, and compliance with Financial Planning as requested.

  • Monitors premiums and costs associated with the casualty insurance program.

  • Develops internal insurance cost allocation model and methodology.

  • Oversees corporate insurance invoice processing and payment.

  • Works with Tax Department to ensure compliance on all applicable taxes related to placement of insurance.

  • Provides guidance to operating company personnel and contract administrators regarding general insurance.

  • Timely and accurate completion of NiSource annual insurance renewal process.

  • Determination & implementation of retention strategy and captive administration.

  • Key analytics around total cost of risk and exposure.

  • Continual leadership development and development of direct report(s)

Required Qualifications for Position

  • Bachelors degree from a four year, accredited college or university required.

  • Minimum of eight years of insurance experience with an insurance carrier, broker or TPA.

  • Working experience/knowledge in working with captive insurers and captive insurance programs.

  • Working experience/knowledge in the management of large corporate insurance programs involving utility or energy related exposures.

  • Ability to travel on business (minimal to 25%) required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.

  • Strong written and oral presentation skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • Risk management experience is a plus.

  • CPCU, ARM or other insurance designations or continuing education a plus.

  • Financial reporting and analysis experience is a plus.

Salary Range*:

$129,500.00 - $194,300.00

*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidates skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience , as well as internal pay equity .
