Senior Financial Analyst, AI Finance Transformation
- Dutch Bros Coffee
- Tempe, Arizona
- Full Time
It's fun to work in a company where people truly believe in what they are doing. At Dutch Bros Coffee, we are more than just a coffee company. We are a fun-loving, mind-blowing company that makes a difference one cup at a time.
Position Overview:
Dutch Bros is launching an AI-driven Finance Transformation initiative, and we are hiring our foundational team members. In this role, you will blend your FP&A or strategic finance expertise with a passion for AI and automation to modernize how our Finance team operates. You will spend your days experimenting with cutting-edge tools (e.g. Python, large language models like Claude, AI coding assistants like Cursor, etc.), prototyping solutions, and automating processes. Your work will directly support Finance leadership (including our Senior Finance Manager for Real Estate) by exploring what is possible with AI in finance. This is not a typical forecasting or close role, and it is not an academic AI research position. It is an opportunity to build and iterate on real-world finance use cases , from automating reports and decks to developing mini-apps and AI copilots for our team. We encourage experimentation: not every idea has to reach production, but each will drive learning and progress towards a Finance AI Incubator capability within Dutch Bros.
Job Qualifications:
Finance Background: 4+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or a related analytical finance role. Strong understanding of financial statements, key metrics (revenue, margins, EBITDA), and typical FP&A workflows.
Analytical & Technical Aptitude: Advanced Excel skills and proven analytical prowess. Exposure to Python and SQL (through work projects or personal experimentation) and genuine enthusiasm to become more proficient. Youve dabbled with modern AI/analytics tools (e.g., tried out Claude Code/Cowork for analysis or used a tool like Power BI/Excels Power Query) and are excited to deepen those skills.
Curiosity & Learning Mindset: Highly curious and coachable , with a self-starter attitude toward learning new technologies. Comfortable exploring unfamiliar tools, asking questions, and iterating solutions. Not afraid to admit what you do not know and driven to figure it out.
Communication & Collaboration: Ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terms and build trust across teams. You can take a request from a finance leader and run with it, with a proven ability to regularly provide updates.
Preferred Qualifications:
Automation Experience: Hands-on experience automating a process or building a tool in a prior role for instance, writing a Python script to streamline a report, or creating a dynamic dashboard.
Education & Continuous Learning: Bachelors degree in Ffinance, Economics, Data Science, or related field. Additional coursework or certifications in Data Analytics, AI, or Machine Learning are a bonus. Active interest in the data/AI community (e.g., online courses, hackathons, forums) shows you stay curious and engaged.
AI/LLM Familiarity: Experience with large language model tools or AI assistants, and familiarity with AI coding copilots or IDEs . Expert-level knowledge is not required, but any prior experimentation or project in this area is a big plus.
Industry & Systems Knowledge: Industry experience with Retail or Consumer Goods finance is helpful. Familiarity with data environments (e.g., cloud databases) is a plus.
Location Requirement:
This role is located in Tempe, Arizona. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.
Key Result Areas (KRAs):
Prototype AI Use Cases: Experiment with AI/LLM tools (e.g., Copilot or Claude Code/Cowork, AI copilots like Cursor for coding assistance) to develop proof-of-concept solutions. For example, build a draft financial analysis assistant that can answer ad hoc questions, or a model that flags unusual expense patterns. Iterate on prototypes, knowing some will succeed, some will fail , both outcomes are learning opportunities.
Automate Finance Workflows: Identify and streamline manual finance processes . Use Python, SQL, or AI/LLM tools to create scripts or bots that auto-generate reports and presentations , unlocking more time for interpretation and strategic partnership.
Develop Internal Tools & Dashboards: Build lightweight tools or dashboards that empower the FP&A team. This could mean creating an internal web app for self-service data pulls, designing a dashboard for real-time metrics, or enhancing Excel models with Python-driven automation. Always ensure the tools are user-friendly and add real value to finance partners.
Data Leverage & Analysis : Ensure finance data is accessible and reliable by integrating data sources (Snowflake, D365, ERP systems) into analytical models. Conduct ad hoc analysis using advanced analytics (e.g., statistical or AI techniques) to support real-time business questions. Perform ad hoc analyses combining your finance acumen with data techniques (like scenario simulations or variance explanations using advanced analytics) to support quick decision-making.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Work side-by-side with finance leaders to understand their needs and pain points , translating them into technical solutions or prototypes. Document your processes and results and explain complex methods in plain language to ensure adoption. Foster a learning culture by showing colleagues what is possible with new tools , without overwhelming them. You will effectively be a tech translator and coach within finance, as well as a builder.
