Position

Rockefeller Capital Management is seeking a highly capable legal professional to provide strategic and day-to-day guidance across its alternative investment and asset management platforms. This role demands deep expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to partner closely with legal colleagues and business stakeholders in a fast-growing, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as legal advisor across the firm’s alternative investment activities, including private equity, hedge fund, and other alternative strategies.
  • Provide legal support for private funds, registered funds, and UCITS vehicles, including structuring, documentation, and lifecycle support.
  • Provide advice on direct investments and co-investments, including transaction structuring, diligence, and execution.
  • Support the placement and distribution of third-party alternative investment products.
  • Provide legal coverage for asset management activities, including investment management agreements and client onboarding.
  • Partner with business leaders on new product design and development, from concept through launch.
  • Deliver regulatory advice and analysis across a wide range of investment adviser and fund-related issues, including preparation and maintenance of Form ADV and Form PF disclosures.
  • Manage and coordinate external counsel, ensuring efficiency, responsiveness, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Deliver practical, solution-oriented counseling that balances legal risk with commercial objectives.

Qualifications

  • J.D. and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 3-6 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Experience advising asset managers and working with alternative investment products.
  • Familiarity with U.S. investment management regulatory frameworks and market practices.

Skills

  • Comfort working as part of a team while also owning and driving complex legal matters independently.
  • Strong counseling skills, with the ability to translate legal analysis into clear, actionable guidance for business partners.
  • Collaborative, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented approach.

Compensation Range

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $225,000 to $275,000. Base salary for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. In addition, this role may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
