Job Responsibilities
These positions are located within the Insurance Reserve Fund (IRF) Division of the State Fiscal Accountability Authority and serves as an Insurance Analyst I in the Auto/Fast Track Unit of the Tort Claims Department.
Duties:
- Investigate small torts and property claims by reviewing policy language and coverages and gather necessary information to conclude claims.
- Log notes, show detailed information on steps taken to handle the claims are entered into system on the same day that the work is performed.
- Manage school bus claims by working with a third-party administrator (TPA).
- Ensure claims are paid appropriately and within insurance policy guidelines.
- Review claims and verify information and documentation on claims that are within the TPA authority limits.
- Enter time sensitive material submitted by vendor.
- Evaluates and implement defense strategies on school bus suits brought against insured entities in order to reach a successful resolution based on current laws.
- Make decisions on settling or defending cases based on liability and damages and may participate in mediation to bring the case to successful resolution.
- Communicates with insured and claimants regarding coverage questions, status of claims and other questions to ensure that both customers and claimants have accurate and complete information.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and work experience in processing claims. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
