Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute the billing process for Medicare and other payers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor the status of billed and unbilled patients, effectively tracking and managing accounts receivable.
  • Perform collection functions, including running aging reports, communicating with insurance companies and patients regarding outstanding balances, and updating management on account statuses.
  • Identify and resolve billing issues, maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance. Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive financial operations and adherence to policies and procedures. Resolve claim denials, rejections, and billing errors.
  • Submit corrected claims and follow up with payers.
  • Maintain accounts and update billing records.
  • Call payers for claim status, denial details, and payment issues.
  • Post payments, adjustments, and approved write-offs.
  • Review remits/EOBs and research payment issues.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and coverage.

Minimum Education & Experience Required:

  • Associates Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in medical billing.
  • Preferred experience in home health or hospice billing, with a strong understanding of Medicare billing processes.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
