The Assistant Manager, Consumer Funding is responsible for overseeing and directing all consumer and indirect loan funding activities across the credit union. This role leads a team of funders while actively participating in funding functions to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant loan disbursements.

This position manages funding workflows, service level agreements (SLAs), and queue prioritization to ensure optimal turnaround times and high-quality member experience. Utilizing their best judgment and industry experience the position will optimize processes to impact member service outcomes, provide compliance oversight, complete performance management responsibilities, including making recommendations for hiring, disciplinary actions, promotions, and compensation recommendations. The Assistant Manager serves as a key operational leader bridging Consumer and Indirect Lending, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and adherence to credit union policies and regulatory requirements.

This role requires an organized and dependable individual with strong communication skills and the ability to complete tasks accurately and on time. The position supports the team and organization by assisting with day-to-day activities, completing assigned projects, and contributing to efforts that advance organizational goals and uphold core values, while enhancing member/service outcomes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Direct and oversee daily funding operations for direct auto, RV, boat, and motorcycle loans, unsecured personal loans, credit cards (Visa), secured personal loans, Indirect auto loans (CUDL or equivalent channels)
  • Supervise and support a team of three to five funders.
  • Occasionally fund loans alongside the team during high volume periods to maintain production flow and service levels.
  • Manage and monitor funding queues to ensure timely processing and adherence to established SLAs.
  • Establish daily priorities and allocate workload to meet volume demands.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure consistent clearing of funding pipelines across all product types.
  • Ensure all funded loans meet credit union underwriting guidelines, funding requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with Compliance and Quality Control to address defects and audit findings.
  • Reinforce adherence to policies including fraud prevention and verification procedures.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to funding staff.
  • Monitor individual and team productivity, quality, and service metrics.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of funding personnel.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum five years' (5) experience in a consumer lending role with escalated authority and funding experience, required.
  • Prior supervisory experience required, preferably in a lending environment.
  • Experience with indirect lending channels (dealer networks, CUDL) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, independently managing a complex pipeline of loans to be funded.
  • Proven success meeting or exceeding individual and organizational professional goals.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively work at a fast pace and in a changing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with credit union staff and external support partners, including dealers and dealer representatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must be proficient in common office computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Origence Arc OS and similar).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong credit and general financial analysis experience.
  • Advanced ability to research, analyze, and report information on market conditions including competitive product and service offerings.
  • Continually develop and maintain advisory and consultative lending skills.

Physical Requirements

Hearing: Ability to hear and comprehend spoken communication in person and over the phone. Vision: Ability to view computer screens and read documentation with clarity and accuracy.

Verbal Communication: Ability to speak clearly and effectively to interact with colleagues and/or members. Frequent use of a telephone headset may be required.

Manual Dexterity: Proficient use of hands and fingers for typing, operating office equipment, and handling documents.

Posture and Endurance: Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods; adjustable sit/stand desk options may be available to support comfort.

Mobility: Ability to move within the office environment to attend meetings or assist colleagues as needed. Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 lbs.

Other Information

Hours Required: A work schedule of Monday through Friday, generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some alternate work schedules. This position is eligible for the credit union's telecommute policy.

Travel Requirements: Less than 10% local travel is required. Limited travel during the work schedule, primarily for training, meetings, dealer engagements.

Work Environment: This position is based in a climate-controlled office environment with ergonomic workstations in a two-story building with an elevator. Subject to standard background noise found in an office environment. Natural light from large windows, supplemented by artificial lighting to ensure a comfortable working atmosphere.
