The RN - Clinical Risk Manager (CRM) is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitiging risks across the MVHS system while enhancing pient safety and quality of care. This position will administer MVHSs risk management program on a day-to-day basis, documenting, managing and analyzing risk management da, conducting proactive risk assessments, delivering targeted risk management educion, and providing risk management consultion to ensure compliance with regulory standards, promoting a culture of safety, throughout the organizion. Responsible for management of pending insurance claims and partnering with brokers and insurers.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Coordines MVHSs clinical risk management program to meet the systems needs in a manner th fulfills our mission and stregic goals while complying with regulions, laws and accredition standards.
  • Follows a comprehensive enterprise risk management approach in risk identificion, analysis, evaluion, mitigion and monitoring.
  • Reviews and analyzes occurrence reports reled to risk management, quality of care, regulory issues, and insurance concerns.
  • Participes in Root Cause Analysis investigions and coordines with departments and clinical chairpersons for peer reviews.
  • Prepares incident summary reports and provides all necessary documention for investigions and resolutions. Submits reports to approprie regulory authorities as required.
  • Monitors the risk management informion system dabase for pient harm events or unanticiped outcomes and investiges accordingly.
  • Participes in the peer review process and ensures safety solutions are implemented.
  • Collabores with on-site investigors and participes in risk management assessments.
  • Serves as a resource person and presents risk management issues for discussion and evaluion.
  • Identifies organizional risks through trend analysis. Prepares and presents reports to be presented to leadership regarding findings. Advises on the risk of current or future activities conducted throughout the system.
  • Collabores with other areas including Quality/Performance Improvement to establish quality and safety goals; participes on quality of care and pient safety committees.
  • Reviews and/or drafts administrive policy and procedures th fall within the risk management domain.
  • Provide guidance and advice regarding clinical risk management issues, policies, procedures and practices across MVHS system.
  • Delivers educional programs to raise staff awareness of risk exposure and professional liability.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding reports and professional liability mters in collaborion with legal department.
  • Keeps current with regulory requirements reled to risk management.
  • Manages insurance claims in coordinion with other members of the legal/compliance department
  • Maintains strong relionships with brokers, underwriters, and third party consultants as required.
  • Works collaborively with Compliance department to implement a comprehensive internal audit plan focused on high risk areas.
  • Collabore with leadership and cross functional teams to embed risk awareness into stregic planning.
  • Serves as a member on various system risk/pient safety/quality committees to offer input and provide consultion on risk identificion and reduction stregies.
  • Partners with legal counsel to provide clinical knowledge an assistance throughout the litigion process to achieve resolution of incidents, claims and litigion mters.
  • Is available to field inquiries from our staff outside of normal business hours.
  • Performs reled duties as directed.
Educion/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in a reled field.
  • At least 5 years of experience th may include a combinion of risk management, clinical, quality and/or legal work.
  • Leadership, critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, presention and interpersonal communicion skills.

PREFERRED :

  • Master's degree in a reled area.
  • Paralegal, claim management or equivalent legal/risk experience.
Licensure/Certificion Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Current NYS RN or allied health professional licensure.

PREFERRED :

  • CPHRM certificion.
