Job No: 539224 Work Type: Full-time Location: REMOTE OPTIONS , PHOENIX Categories: Legal/Investigations/Adjustment/Compliance ATTORNEY GENERAL DEPT LAW CIVIL RIGHTS COMPLIANCE OFFICER CENTRAL AVE PHOENIX Review information provided by potential complainants to determine whether claims are within the Division's jurisdiction, review and analyze documents presented by potential complainants, refer potential complainants to outside agencies for assistance as appropriate, and schedule intake appointments. Attend educational seminars, make presentations to community groups and organizations, and train others on Civil Rights laws. Distribute informational materials regarding civil rights laws to the public and organizations. Attend staff meetings, trainings and work on special projects as directed. - Knowledge of State and Federal civil rights laws and regulations in the areas of housing, employment, public accommodations, and voting discrimination. - Knowledge of jurisdictional requirements and the legal elements of proof needed to establish a prima facie case under the Acts. - Knowledge of laws and rules regarding evidence and legal and professional ethics. - Knowledge of the Division's contract requirements with federal agencies, the EEOC and HUD , regarding deadlines, file maintenance, and report preparation. - Knowledge of communication strategies, interviewing strategies and techniques, evidence gathering and analysis, logical and analytical models, and file and case management. - Knowledge of theories of business and human resources management. - Knowledge of conflict resolution theories, methods and techniques; time management principles; and operation of necessary resource materials, software, and equipment. - Knowledge of community organizations and resources. - Skill in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relations, interviewing and investigative techniques, including ability to review and analyze information and evidence. - Skill in accurately documenting and summarizing verbal and written communications. - Skill in drafting legal documents and correspondence. - Skill in preparing a strategic plan of action specific to the investigation of each case. - Skill in conducting research regarding applicable laws, regulations and policies, as well as company and property ownership. - Skill in computer operation, including use of word processing, databases, and network software. - Skill in operating office equipment. - Ability to focus on issues, determine what information is relevant, evaluate the credibility of witnesses, make decisions, and solve problems. - Ability to analyze documents and data for relevant information and analyze the facts derived and their context to draw conclusions. - Ability to communicate verbally with parties and legal staff, including conducting interviews and providing understandable and logical instructions. - Highly-developed writing ability to draft correspondence, administrative discovery, investigative reports and analyses for review by management and legal staff. - Strong ability to apply the law to specific investigations of discrimination. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities and tasks, in spite of constant interruptions. - All applicants under serious consideration for hire with the Attorney General's Office are required to be fingerprinted by the Office and complete a criminal background check through State and Federal agencies.
