Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist for full-time employment. The Medical Billing Specialist works with the Accounting team to provide services on behalf of our Residents.
The successful applicant will have at least 2 years of related professional experience with medical / insurance billing, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general accounting.
The Medical Billing Specialist carefully reviews and accurately processes payments to Medicare, HMO's, and insurance companies, and assists to oversee accounts receivable. The Medical Billing Specialist ensures all payments are accurately entered in a computerized system, approved, and paid in a timely manner. The Medical Billing Specialist accurately completes related administrative work, including processing various bills for Residents; tracking, compiling, entering, and verifying information in computerized systems; researching and resolving billing-related issues; maintaining accurate and up-to-date insurance information for Residents.
The Medical Billing Specialist works accurately and efficiently with computerized databases, online systems, and apps; remains organized in a fast-paced work environment; completes work in a timely manner; interacts in a professional and friendly manner with colleagues and Residents; handles confidential and personal information in a discrete manner and in compliance with HIPAA policies.
Work Hours
Full-time, benefits-eligible: 40 hours per week, typically 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or similar hours, Monday through Friday, on-site
Core Requirements:
a high school diploma or G.E.D.
basic computer skills: the ability to access and navigate web sites, and use software, apps, and databases independently
the ability to complete online training independently
dependability: ability and willingness to meet attendance standards
attention to safety: ability and willingness to consistently work in a safe and alert manner, and to report to work fit for duty; commitment to wearing protective equipment as required for the position and adhering to all health and safety standards
commitment to treating each Resident, Team Member, and member of the Brethren Village community with respect
Additional Requirements for This Position:
a high school diploma or G.E.D.
at least 2 years of prior insurance billing, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or related accounting experience
thorough understanding of the Medicare billing and payment processes; knowledge of other insurance plans / HMO's and billing processes
strong computer skills; the demonstrated ability to effectively use computerized databases, Excel spreadsheets, websites, and other software and apps
high attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy with work; the ability to accurately enter data on records, in files, and in databases, in a timely manner; commitment to carefully verifying the accuracy of work on a routine basis
willingness and ability to independently resolve billing issues, working cooperatively with vendors and colleagues
proven ability to effectively organize work to meet deadlines
commitment to handling confidential and personal information with discretion and care, and in compliance with Brethren Village policies and state and federal regulations
effective interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, effective customer service skills
commitment to adhering to HIPAA privacy regulations, and handling Residents' and Team Members' confidential, sensitive, and personal information in a discreet and professional manner
