Position Description:
Job Title: Client Account Representative
Department: Finance
Supervisory Chain of Command:
- Direct Supervisor: Client Account Representative Team Lead
- Tertiary Supervisor: Client Account Manager
- Chief-Level Supervisor: Chief Financial Officer
Oversees about 1900 client accounts, covering a wide range of insurance providers and client financial situations. Responsible for preparing monthly reports on the accounts, coordinating Explanation of Benefits paperwork, and following up with insurance agencies and internal Pawnee staff to ensure proper billing of services.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Essential Responsibilities:
- Retrieve Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from electronic shared file and apply outcomes to client accounts within 5 days of receipt by agency.
- Research and answer client and payer source inquiries. Provide supporting documentation as allowed by privacy regulations upon request.
- Follow-up on unpaid insurance claims in a timely manner until claim is paid or only self-pay balance remains.
- Follow agency collection procedures for mailing statements.
- Work the aging of accounts report.
- Present problem/delinquent accounts to supervisor as needed.
- Remain knowledgeable regarding billing procedures and regulations for payers.
- Attend staff meetings and provide constructive input.
- Maintain and advance knowledge and skills related to field of work through regular review of pertinent materials and attendance at training events.
- Adhere to the standards, policies and instructions established by PMHS Policy and Procedure and any applicable ethical codes within field of employment.
- Review and comply with the Pawnee Code of Conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Special Billing Only
- Process progress notes into claims and fix all corresponding errors.
- Submit accurate and timely claims to special billing insurance carriers either electronically or by hard copy billing.
- Generate and review a duplicate claims report to ensure multiple services provided in a day are incorporated into a single claim. Correct errors before claims are submitted.
- Create weekly missing note reports and send to appropriate staff. Respond to questions and concerns in a timely manner.
- Verify insurance and update client records as necessary.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of medical office billing or comparable administrative experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Software.
- Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
- Ability to operate and assist with maintaining office equipment such as a postage machine, copier/scanner/fax machine, and folding machine.
Preferred:
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Software.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills.
All employees will be required to submit to and pass a background check and drug screening.
Salary Description
$21.15 an hour
