Overview This position is a dual role position, supporting both the Actuarial Services and Underwriting departments. When supporting Actuarial Services, the candidate will perform functions under the direct supervision of the Director of Actuarial Services & Underwriting. The individual will provide a full scope of actuarial and statistical analyses, on a project specific basis. When supporting Underwriting, the individual will perform functions under the direct supervision of the Manager of Underwriting. The individual will provide a full scope of underwriting risk analyses, for both renewal and new large group business. The position requires working collaboration with other team members, other business units, Finance and Sales. This role requires strong analytical skills. The individual will assist in the development and implementation of process improvements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences, or related field. Completion of Fundamentals of Health Insurance (part A) desired. Experience in Underwriting or a related business field preferred. Completion of at least one Society of Actuaries exam preferred. Prior business experience is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative, as well as an ability to perform under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in fast paced environment. Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment. Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access and other analytic or query tools preferred. Essential Accountabilities Prepare data and analyze for regulatory reporting and for audits. Assist in the preparation of fully insured renewal group benefit packages, including analysis of cost drivers. Assist in the risk evaluation and rate development for new business. Ensure overall data integrity and timeliness of delivery of quotes and renewals. Maintain organized files on assigned book of business. Work with Finance to provide reports for various financial statement items. Maintain effective and informative communication with internal and external (brokers, employer groups, etc.) customers. Supports analysis of regulatory changes and the impact on product profitability. Assist in the preparation of ad hoc financial and analytical reports. Monitor timeliness and accuracy of responsibilities under assigned book of business. Develop actual versus budgeted trend reports. Develop membership and maintain monthly membership reports. Support analysis of regulatory changes and the impact on product profitability. Monitor product performance and focus on what is driving cost and utilization. Develop ad hoc reports as a supplement to routine management reports through query building and data extraction. Propose and assist in development of process improvements and automation within the department. Ensure overall data integrity. Participate in team training and development. Participate in projects and cross functional teams. Perform other functions as assigned by management. Immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position Hiring Compensation Range: $65,000 - $80,000 annually Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience. In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
