BWC's core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC's seven offices across the state. BWC offers flex-time work schedules that allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am. Flex-time schedules are based on operational need and require supervisor approval.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Reviews claims to determine eligibility for subrogation and acts as a field representative by monitoring all monies owed the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation through subrogation.
  • Receives phone calls from insurance companies and claimant representatives, evaluates workers' compensation claims to determine future costs, negotiates settlement of subrogated interest, refers negotiation to team leader or staff attorney, generates correspondence and provides periodic updates of amounts paid to date to insurance companies and personal injury attorneys.
  • Prepares settlement worksheets and outlines subrogation settlement agreements, researches requests from various law firms.
  • Manages a caseload via Subrogation Case Management System and Worklist.

To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate:

  • 24 mos. exp. in position involving review & processing of claims, collections, billings, payments or review of documents for accuracy, completeness &/or compliance with reporting guidelines, laws or rules with exp. commensurate to duties to be assigned.
  • Or 16 semester or 24 quarter hours in accounting AND 12 mos. exp. in accounting or other fiscal/financial activity.
  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Accountant/ Examiner 1, 66111, with state government exp. commensurate with duties to be assigned.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
