Key Responsibilities: Where Your Expertise Meets Real Impact

As a P&C Claims Representative at COVU, you'll dive into challenging claims with the support of advanced tech and a collaborative team. Your day-to-day will include:

• Investigating, evaluating, and settling moderate to high-exposure claims, including bodily injury, property damage, and liability cases.
• Determining coverage, identifying issues, and conducting thorough investigations to ensure fair and efficient resolutions.
• Setting, adjusting, and monitoring reserves while maintaining accurate documentation and progress tracking via our electronic diary system.
• Managing a diverse caseload with proactive compliance to company policies, legal requirements, and best practices.
• Negotiating settlements, assessing damages, attending hearings/mediations, and collaborating with legal counsel, vendors, and third parties.
• Identifying subrogation opportunities, referring risks to Loss Control and Underwriting, and generating large loss notices.
• Providing guidance to junior adjusters and clerical staff, while directing outside vendors and reviewing invoices for accuracy.
• Building foundational and specialized skills in policy interpretation, estimation, negotiation, and tech tools like computer-based loss adjustment programs.
• Participating in ongoing training, team roundtables, and continuing education to stay ahead in the industry.
• Delivering prompt, professional responses to clients, brokers, claimants, and stakeholders—always prioritizing exceptional service.
• Other dynamic duties as assigned, keeping your role fresh and aligned with our innovative mission.
   

Desired Skills & Experience: What We're Looking For in Our Next Star

To succeed and soar at COVU, bring your A-game with:

• At least 5 years' of experience at broker level in Commercial Lines
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in property/casualty claims handling (mid-level are welcomed—we invest in your growth!).
• Proven ability to multitask, organize data, and make independent decisions in fast-paced scenarios.
• Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—for crafting reports, correspondence, and building relationships.
• Sharp problem-solving prowess to resolve complex issues while maintaining confidentiality and data security.
• Comfort working with diverse teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Strong mathematical aptitude, including geometry (area/volume) and financial analysis (sums, unit costs, personal/business finance docs).
• Valid driver's license with a clean record (consistent with company guidelines).
• Willingness to obtain and maintain adjuster's license(s) as required—we'll support you every step.
• Eagerness to continually expand product knowledge through approved educational programs.
