Cognizant is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Conventional Underwriter to join our expanding Correspondent Lending channel in Los Colinas, in Irving, Texas. Key Responsibilities:

Independently underwrite conventional mortgage loans in accordance with agency guidelines.

Proven proficiency in Encompass LOS , including navigation of underwriting screens, condition management, and document review.

Utilize Automated Underwriting Systems (AUS), including Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Product Advisor (LPA), to assess loan eligibility.

Analyze complex income scenarios and make sound underwriting decisions.

Ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality in all underwriting decisions.

Meet or exceed productivity and quality standards as defined by management.

Maintain effective communication with internal teams and external partners.

Participate in video conferencing and remote collaboration.

Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work overtime as needed to meet business demands.

Required Qualifications:

35 years of conventional agency first mortgage underwriting experience.

Proficiency in DU and LPA automated underwriting systems.

Strong analytical and decision-making skills, particularly in evaluating complex income.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to multitask and adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Comfortable with remote work tools and video conferencing platforms.
