Liberty Mutual is currently hiring an Equipment Breakdown Risk Control Consultant to provide jurisdictionally required inspections and other services to an assigned group of customers.

This role is 100% remote within the assigned territory. If you reside within 50 miles of Baltimore, MD office, you'll be required to go into the office twice a month. Please note this policy is subject to change.

This position may be filled as a Consultant I, Consultant II, or Senior Consultant. The salary range posted reflects pay scale variations across locations.

Reporting to the Equipment Breakdown Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Perform jurisdictional inspections on boilers and pressure vessels within your assigned territory, and report findings to the appropriate authorities and stakeholders.
  • Support underwriters by conducting risk assessment account reviews, and serve as a technical resource to field claim adjusters.
  • Conduct on-site visits and data collection to identify sources of risk, loss, and cost. Compile facts from site visits, reports, and databases to evaluate current practices and identify needs.
  • Benchmark customer performance against industry and internal standards, and assess the severity and frequency of potential problems.
  • Interpret and analyze data to determine the best course of action that satisfies customer risk service needs. Utilize advanced software applications to find innovative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses to evaluate how and when recommended improvements will pay off. Investigate cause-and-effect relationships.
  • Prepare technical reports and organize data into clear formats for presentation. Outline action plans to improve customer practices or influence workforce behaviors.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with customers. Learn about their business to understand risk management needs and ensure clear, mutual communication. Keep them informed on services, tools, and relevant resources.
  • Participate in training and development of customer teams. Oversee implementation of programs, provide technical support, and guide execution of recommendations.
  • Continuously pursue professional development to better meet customer expectations.
  • May support new business acquisition by following up on leads and presenting proposals to potential customers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with coursework in mathematics and engineering or related area, plus a minimum of 3 years of directly related consulting experience.
  • NBBI IS Commission or ability to obtain NBBI IS Commission.
  • Demonstrated ability to retrieve and enter information using various proprietary software applications and create/modify documents and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience in boiler and pressure vessel inspections, service planning and delivery, risk assessment, risk analysis, solutions management, and progress measurement.
  • Fully effective interpersonal, writing, and other communication skills required to develop and maintain relationships with customers, peers, and industry contacts.
  • Ability to work closely with Claims and Underwriting.
  • Position requires regular travel.
