The Ohio Industrial Commission, office of Legal Services is seeking an experienced claims examiner who can complete assignments following agency guidelines and procedures, and someone who can adapt to change and remain professional while working with OIC customers. The selected individual must pay attention to details, produce accurate work product and have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
Under general direction, processes third level appeals & requests for reconsideration according to workers' compensation law, Industrial Commission rules & regulations, & established agency policy & procedures; operates the Commission Adjudication System (CAS) word processing equipment & Commission Business Automation Workflow (BAW) software to produce complex, technical material of legal & statistical nature.
- Produces written legal findings (orders) from commission hearings, commission letters, screened third level appeals, forms, & other documents; determines proper wording on commission orders & letters; monitors commission electronic voting system to determine appropriate processing of Commission orders & letters.
- Maintains filing system & searches for files for retrieval of material as needed.
- Responds to general inquires by either telephone or correspondence regarding status of claims; performs routine clerical duties (e.g., copies; performs data entry functions to update CAS; scans & e-mails documents to appropriate personnel using Microsoft Office programs).
- Acts as back up for review of daily department report & from that report determines which appeals should be forwarded for further review in BAW; sets up appropriate Position Control Numbers (PCNs) on CAS & forwards claim to appropriate personnel after review of report.

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals & percentages & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures.

- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
