BWC's core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC's seven offices across the state. BWC offers flex-time work schedules that allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am. Flex-time schedules are based on operational need and require supervisor approval.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Serves as a lead worker and is responsible for training new employees and providing ongoing training to staff as needed.
- Retrieves the Oracle Reports to review and posts subrogation receipts weekly and verifies postings entered in the system. Also requests adjustments on regular and A. G. accounts.
- Compiles weekly and monthly subrogation statistics to share with the Subrogation Unit, Service Offices, and Director of Legal Operations.
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and attends IT meetings to explain the process when updates are made to our systems. Works on special projects when requested.
- Processes referrals and settles and negotiates claims up to $100k.
To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate:
Undergraduate core coursework in accounting or 2 yrs. exp. in accounting AND 12 mos. additional exp. in accounting or in other fiscal/financial activity with exp. to be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
- Or undergraduate core coursework in business administration, economics or computer science or related field AND 16 semester or 24 quarter hours in accounting AND 12 mos. exp. in position involving accounting, billings, collections, payments or reimbursements with exp. to be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
- Or 12 mos. exp. as Accountant/ Examiner 3, 66113 with state government exp. commensurate with duties to be assigned.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Major Worker Characteristics:
Knowledge of Ohio Bureau of Worker's Compensation (BWC) policies & procedures ; Law Department policies & procedures ; public relations; human relations; claims law; insurance law, workers' compensation &/or subrogation law*; internal & external IT systems used to subrogate claims (e.g. Subrogation Application, Coresuite, ISO, CourtView & Cognos).
Skill in operation of personal computers, photocopiers, facsimile machines & applications; lead work*.
Ability to apply principles to solve practical, everyday problems; deal with a variety of variables in somewhat unfamiliar context; define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers; calculate fractions, decimals & percentages; maintain accurate records; originate routine business letters; handle sensitive inquiries from & contacts with officials & general public; resolve complaints from angry citizens & government officials.
