Brown & Brown is seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our growing team in Clinton, MS!

The Commercial Lines Underwriter will assess property risks to determine appropriate costs , terms, and parameters to insure the property.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Evaluate and underwrite commercial property risks by analyzing applications, inspections, loss control reports, and claims history.

  • Determine proper risk placement and eligibility for new and renewal commercial accounts.

  • Prepare quotes, proposals, and binders for commercial renewals and remarket accounts when needed.

  • Review and adjust rating exposures and policy endorsements as necessary.

  • Assess loss potential from catastrophes and make recommendations based on risk analysis.

  • Communicate with agents to process changes, assist with applications, and respond to inquiries.

  • Review inspections and property appraisals to ensure coverage suitability.

  • Recommend denial of coverage when risk exceeds acceptable thresholds.

  • Develop and update underwriting policies and procedures.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration , a ccounting, or related field (preferred)

  • One to three years of related experience is required .

  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.

  • Understanding of laws, guidelines, and best practices for insurance.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
