Brown & Brown is seeking a Claims Professional to join our growing team in FT Wayne, IN !

The role of Claims Professional provides claims handling service for liability and auto risks and focuses on low-to-intermediate value, non-litigated claims. This position will be assigned an appropriate volume of mixed claim files to manage independently, but under moderate supervision from leadership . This Claims Professional role is responsible for successfully managing the day-to-day activities from a claim's inception through its conclusion. The Claims Professional serves as the primary liaison between American Specialty, the insured and the claimant to assure effective communication and proper documentation of servicing activities.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Manage the investigation, evaluation and disposition of an assigned inventory of low-to-moderate value claims on behalf of insured and self-insured risks;

  • Manage all claims and settlements within the individual authority granted by Claims Management and/or the insured under an SIR agreement.

  • Comply with all company and insurer policies, procedures and service standards.

  • Manage the investigation, evaluation and disposition of an assigned inventory of low-to-moderate value claims on behalf of insured and self-insured risks;

  • Handle all phases of negotiation on assigned claims with insured, claimants and attorneys, while maintaining an accurate claims-reporting diary system.

  • Any other responsibilities as may be required in the normal course of business operations. These may involve special projects, special time frames , or special needs in other American Specialty areas.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Active Adjuster licenses in required states (or acquire licensure in all states within six months of hire)

  • Home state adjuster's license

Skills & Experience to Be Successful:

  • Three or more years of General Liability claim handling experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook/Excel/Word programs and ability to adapt quickly to proprietary internal programs

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Maintain confidentiality

  • Work product accuracy

  • Ability to effectively work with and alongside people at all levels of the department and the Company
