Job Summary
Responsible for the assisting with the creation and implementation of day-ahead strategies for AEP in the PJM and SPP energy and ancillary service markets. The group is positioned as a central repository that must process critical operational and commercial information in order to develop market strategies to best optimize the company position in these markets.Communicates relevant information with internal Commercial Operations groups and to external groups within AEP and to the Regional Transmission Organization (RTO). Group members must demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and adhere to American Electric Power corporate compliance policy, as well as external regulations that govern these markets.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain awareness of the operational and liability status of every power plant within an assigned area . Coordinate with senior members to develop and implement a daily strategy for economic optimization of AEPs generation fleet within an assigned area.
Help analyze load forecasts for submission into the RTO markets.
Verify data inputs in internal systems and validate information submitted to the RTO markets.
Begin developing understanding of AEP and RTO specific policies.
Prioritize deadline oriented daily assignments while maintaining the ability to multitask and contribute to the resolution of unassigned demands as they arise.
Assist with NERC and RTO compliance reporting.
Assist with the research and analysis on ad hoc data requests.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelors Degree in business or technical related field; OR,
Three (3) years of relevant work experience (power plant operations, RTO operations, or financial analysis of energy markets).
Experience: No additional experience is required, other than any necessary to satisfy the educational requirements.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be available for weekend and holiday coverage, as assigned.
Ability to interact among a variety of cross functional groups with various backgrounds.
Skills should include critical thinking, creativeness, and attention to detail. Must be able to work in a team or independent environment.
Minimal amount of travel may be required (5%).
WHAT YOU'LL GET
BASE SALARY RANGE: approximately ($73,000 - $90,000/year). In addition to base salary, AEP offers competitive Total Rewards including: discretionary annual incentive, 401(k), pension, health insurance, vacation, educational assistance, etc.
