Job Title: Insurance Representative / Business Office Company: Wichita Clinic Location: Wichita, KS Description: POSITION PURPOSE Processes all insurance claims accurately to ensure a timely return of payment. Works the rejection edit lists for accurate claims filing. Provides additional information to substantiate claims information when requested by the insurance carrier. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -Processes insurance claims to ensure proper payment. -Works claims in the insurance electronic filing system and verifies patient information -Works claims edit lists for correction of inaccurate information in order to submit clean claims. -Works the Appeal FSC lists to re-file or bill subscriber depending on the claim denial. -Responds to letters from the insurance carriers requesting additional information regarding claims issues as well as questions regarding pre-existing conditions. -Uses the PCS work files to determine the status of invoices previously filed and works with insurance companies for payment. -Updates insurance information on the system. -Sends out signature forms with letter and updates computer when returned. Answers telephone inquiries. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Requires at least one-year previous insurance experience. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least one year of previous general office experience is required, which should include keyboarding and clerical duties. SKILLS/ABILITIES: A thorough knowledge of fax machines, copy machines, 10-key and multi-line phones. Previous personal computer experience required.
