Under limited supervision, investigate, analyze, evaluate, negotiate, settle, and recover claims suspected of being questionable, suspicious, or fraudulent. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential job responsibilities. 1.Reviews and evaluates claim and underwriting information to identify appropriate investigative strategies. 2.Investigates unusual, questionable or suspicious claim activity and provides detailed and comprehensive investigative reports to others. 3.Proactively identifies regional fraud schemes and trends to develop appropriate investigative responses and staff specific informational alerts. 4.Provides fraud awareness training, investigative expertise and mentorship to claims and underwriting staff. 5.Develops and maintains industry, law enforcement, and other external contacts involved in fraud investigation, detection and prevention. 6.Assists Senior Staff with special projects or conducts special investigations as required. 7.Improve processes within the Company to increase the level and quality of service provided to internal and external customers. Qualifications: The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities normally required for competent performance in the job. Required Education and/or Experience: oBachelors degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology or related field (equivalent work experience may be substituted for educational requirements). oFive years experience in criminal or multi-line property and casualty insurance investigations. oFraud Claims Law Specialist (FCLS) or Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI) designation is preferred, but not required. Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: oUnderstanding and application of claims and legal principles is preferred. oKnowledge of coverage and policy interpretation, liability analysis, and anatomy and injuries is preferred. oKnowledgeable in fire, casualty, and medical provider investigations. oWorking knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Power Point. oGood verbal and written communication skills. oPresentation skills.
