ID 8201Full or Part Time Full-timePrimary Location TXX1 DallasOther Locations Employment Type RegularPercent Travel 10Supervisory Position Yes Posted1/26/2010Position Description The Dallas Texas Claims Center for CNA has an opening for a Commercial Auto and General Liability Claims Manager. Individual will manage a claims staff and be accountable for business results through cost effective and timely resolution of claims. Under general management direction, works within assigned limits of broad authority requiring a high degree of technical complexity and coordination. May have regional, industry segment or company-wide scope of responsibility.Job Responsibilities:1. Manages the work activities, performance and development of subordinate staff.2. Coaches, leads and develops claims staff and participates in the development of claims training.3. Makes recommendations on claims policy and procedures.4. Reviews and manages investigations of claims, liability and damages, and works with senior management to determine if major claims should be settled or litigated.5. Manages the negotiation of claims settlement packages including setting reserves and authorizing payment.6. Prepares and presents operational reports to management.7. Drives regional and corporate initiatives as they relate to claims.8. Manages project teams and may be responsible for special projects and presentations.9. Assures communications with appropriate parties regarding the handling and/or disposition of claims.10. Keeps current on state/territory regulations and issues, industry activity and trends. May participate in industry trade groups.11. Manage commercial auto and general liability claims for TX, OK, AR, KS, & MO and potentially other states.12. Texas and Oklahoma Adjusters licenses required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:1. Ability to effectively lead, coach and develop the claims staff.2. Technical expertise, claims resolution skills and knowledge of insurance and claims principles, practices and procedures.3. Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.4. Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.5. Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues.6. Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.7. Ability to achieve business goals and objectives.8. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.9. Solid working knowledge and practical application of commercial auto and general liability forms.Education and Experience Required:1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferred.2. Minimum eight years commercial auto and general liability claims experience.3.
