Makes decisions on claims within delegated limited authority. Receives claim assignment, confirms policy coverages and directs acknowledgement of claims.  Investigates claim to determine validity and verify extent of damage by telephone contact with clients, claimants, witnesses or other parties required. Establish reserves and authorize payment within reserving authority limits.  Participates in and determines the settlement of claims within delegated limited authority, or secures authority from supervisor. Completes all reporting forms and file documentation. Develops subrogation and third party recovery potential and follows reclaim procedures. Adheres to client and carrier guidelines and prepares written updates for supervisor to review. Participates in claim reviews. Bachelorâ??s degree highly preferred.Knowledge and Skills:Ability to learn rapidly and develop knowledge and understanding of claims practices. Good verbal and written communication skills. Strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Effective interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with external sources and all levels of team members.Experience:Working knowledge of claims and familiarity with claims terminology gained through equivalent industry experience and/or through specialized courses of study (Associates in Claim designation). Property Claims Examiner SUMMARY:Responsible for handling of all aspects of a claims file from beginning to conclusion.SPECIFIC DUTIES: Interprets the insurance contract and applies to the exposures presented with each claim. EXTERNAL: Customers, Customer Representatives, Vendors and Trading Partners REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 4-year college degree, and/or professional insurance designations, and/or relevant long term experience preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years experience handling insurance claims preferred. Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
