Key Requirements: U.S. Citizenship Required Major Duties: The Compliance Auditor/Educator is assigned to the Compliance and Business Integrity Program at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital.  As Auditor/Educator for the Compliance Program, the incumbent functions in the capacity of management support and is assigned a wide range of responsibilities and acts independently to plan, organize, direct and control areas with emphasis on internal medical record reviews; generate reports associated with the facility’s Compliance Program; review and abstract medical records information; perform quantitative and qualitative review and analysis of medical records, encounter forms and any other documents pertinent to the patient encounter  in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards as prescribed by VA, The Joint Commission, CMS, AHIMA and AMA.  Incumbent is responsible for providing support and education on coding and documentation issues related to third party billing. The incumbent works as an internal liaison to management and clinical disciplines within the hospital on health information and compliance issues. Qualifications: All applicants must meet VHA Handbook 5005 Part II Appendix G33, GS-669 dated March, 2006 qualification requirements. Professional Standards/Accreditation Standards:  At least 1 year of specialized experience comparable to the next lower grade level GS-9 OR education equivalent to 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or a PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited university or college in the field of health information. Specialized experience may be described as experience where the person possess professional knowledge as a Certified Coding Specialist (hospital and preferably physician based CCS/CCS-P) and or Certified Professional Coder (hospital and preferably physician based CPC-CPC-H) credential.  In addition, experience in auditing of documentation and coding is preferred. Westfield Group Premium Auditor- St. Charles, IL Working out of our St. Charles, IL service office the selected professional will visit customers to audit bookkeeping, payroll, accounting, or other relevant records. Assembles facts and data having a bearing in the determination of actual earned premiums for specific classes of casualty insurance including worker's compensation, auto liability and public liability. Contacts underwriters or producers to reconcile discrepancies between audit information and policy statements. The Premium Auditor will perform an average of 35 audits per month, covering a territory 120 miles around the service office. Overnight travel is estimated at 3-4 nights per month. We are looking for a confident, detail oriented, personable professional to act as a business consultant, making sound recommendations to aid our customers. Additional duties to include management and quality control of 3rd party vendors. Requirements include: Premium audit field experience or Bachelor's Degree or Associate' s Degree from an accredited college or university or a minimum of 5 years' experience in the insurance industry with a minimum of 1 year in commercial insurance.
