Experienced Insurance Coordinator Needed for Surgical Practice -
Location: San Diego, CA
Description: Our office is looking for a very experienced and organized Insurance Coordinator who will also be responsible for all aspects of organizing and scheduling insurance based surgeries for a multi-surgeon practice. You MUST have experience getting authorizations from insurance companies. You MUST be able to coherently and routinely document your work and provide weekly progress reports to the surgeons. You may also be required to assist with back office duties and experience as a Medical Assistant should be mentioned when you apply. The practice maintains a steady surgical schedule and the candidate should be able to work well under pressure. The ideal candidate MUST be able to perform the minimum requirements below, but also be well organized, personable and handle tasks in an efficient manner. Job responsibilities will include:
1. Schedule all insurance based cases at approved surgical facilities.
2. Correspond with all multiple insurance companies to obtain preauthorization for all stages of the surgical process.
3. Have in depth knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes.
4. Correspond with various surgical facilities to make sure they receive all preoperative and scheduling orders.
5. Communicate with and set preoperative and post-operative appointments for surgical patients.
6. Prepare and mail consent packets to patients and retain copies for the practice?s medical charts.
7. Arrange all preoperative appointments and labs that need to be done within our facility and at outside facilities.
8. Maintain and update the curriculum vitae for all of the surgeons in the practice.
9. Maintain and update hospital credentialing as needed.
10. Order implants and other surgical supplies for reconstructive cases and correspond with the vendors to make sure everything reaches us on time and as ordered.
11. Correspond with various hospitals to arrange ER schedules for the surgeons.
12. Arrange for Stat Admissions to the hospital.
13. Obtain approval for and order all physical therapy, CT Scans, MRI?s & make arrangements with vendors and insurance companies before surgery to arrange for post-operative care, including, but not limited to, wound vacs and home health services.
14. Assist with back office duties when seeing patient pre and post operatively.
15. Other responsibilities as needed and required for the practice.
