Position: ALM Senior Actuary or Senior Risk Manager Responsibilities The incumbent has accountability for managing the following functions: . Play a lead role in development and implementation of Retirement Services Asset / Liability analysis, hedging strategies, and asset strategies to effectively mitigate complex exposures that combine Actuarial, Financial and Capital Market risks . Leverage financial engineering, capital markets, and product knowledge to play a lead role in developing innovative new products and risk reduction strategies . Effectively lead complex cross functional projects in a dynamic business environment that can involve shifting priorities; collaborating with other departments and business units, and creatively leveraging internal and external resources to meet aggressive deadlines. . Pricing and Product Design Review- confirm projections of revenue, claims, expenses, reserves, investment income, and surplus. Projected taxes and policyholder dividends. . Set assumptions / parameters, quantify risk and analyze company's risk profile under various scenarios. . Perform actuarial analysis supporting the explanation of actuarial / plan earnings variances relating to actuarial matters. . Perform Economic Value Added (EVA) analysis . Develop robust economic scenarios use in ALM and pricing. This will involve leading developments in terms of integrated interest, equity, volatility, credit default and spread scenario generations including historical analysis and a calibration to market prices, capital markets, assumptions setting, analysis of hedging strategies including assessment of effectiveness of business until hedging strategies for capital relief. . Senior staff should view IRM as a value added department that has earned their technical professional respect and is able to work with various risk management functions to optimize the ALM profile of the businesses under the various capital frameworks and help drive risk diversification between business and risk management optimization . Peer review of Asset / Liability, pricing and financial models and results . Coordinate with USFS IRM team to set and implement standards of practice for ALM, risk measurement methodologies and assumptions including scenario generators (integrated equity, interest, volatility and credit default and spread) . Provide input and assistance to the Head of Retirement Services Insurance Risk Management and RS senior leaders broadly on ALM issues including special projects Who is our ideal candidate? Job Knowledge and Skills . A mix of capital market and actuarial background is required. Either an FSA with hands-on experience in annuity risk management and investment background and / or a financial engineer / quant with hands-on experience in capital markets and understanding of annuity risk management. .
